The Royal Mint does not just produce the 1.3 billion coins in use in Britain, from the 1p to the £2 piece, it also makes 2.7 billion coins for 50 other countries all over the world from the Euro to the Egyptian Piaster and the Icelandic Krona, making it the largest mint in the world.
Twenty-four tons of coins a year are produced in the coining press room of the Royal Mint
